Video Games & Slippery Slopes

December 27th, 2007 by Chris · No Comments

Right before Christmas GamerDad put up a great article breaking down the National Institute on the Family’s MediaWise Video Game Report Card.  (Whew!)

Apparently the MediaWise report gives a summary of the status of video games and even provides a handy list of games to avoid.  Sounds rather omnious doesn’t it?  Yeah, considering all the games they mention to avoid are M rated.  DUH!

To quote Colleen from GamerDad:

“All of these reports use big statistics. Numbers are stacked up like cord wood. But when you try to apply them to real life, it’s not so black and white. Yes, a large percentage of kids play M rated games. What gets blurry here is how many of them are doing it out of their parent’s ignorance and how many of them are doing it because their parents have made the choice to allow their kids to play. ”

I suggest you skip the MediaWise report but take a look at what the folks at GamerDad are saying.  Some good stuff there.
