Thanks to Chris (who sent me THIS KOTAKU LINK) and a half-dozen other friends who know how much I have been enjoying LBP, I was made aware of a little press release from Sony (read it HERE).

The fact is that there are a number of announcements in that press release, including the upcoming release of that nifty Hannah Montana Lilac PSP displayed above (which may be of serious interest to some of you who are fans have daughters who are fans). But what caught my eye was the announcement of a portable version of Little Big Planet. In fact, they even state the following:

offering new SackBoyâ„¢ adventures with the same play, create, share experience for gamers on-the-go…

I’d be tickled to have a simplified portable LBP lite. But it appears that they’re talking about creating and sharing user-created content on the PSP. Heck, that’s enough to make even the most die-hard Nintendo DS owner take notice. I doubt that the portable version could play levels created for the PS3 due to memory limitations. Even if one could, the content was created for a larger screen so seeing the necessary details on the handheld’s LCD might prove unrealistic. However, it would be a brilliant stroke if levels created on the PSP could be imported into the PS3. Even better, imagine a function to export a level or at least a portion thereof from the PS3 to the PSP for tweaking and brainstorming on-the-go.

I’m not holding my breath on any of this. As I said before, I’m just excited to see the franchise appear on the handheld. We’ll see what comes.
